International students need authorization from the Government of Canada to study. Upon acceptance as a full-time student, an Acceptance letter will be issued on behalf of our Representatives (where applicable). This letter will assist you in qualifying for a Study Permit from Immigration Canada. Students must pay a deposit of $6250CDN prior to receiving any documentation for submission to any Canadian Embassy. A confirmation letter of deposit will be issued to the Student or the Representative. The balance of fees, are due on arrival in Canada.
If a Study Visa is denied, a refund will be given less an Administration fee of $500.00, upon receipt of proof of such refusal letter. *All student work permits will be processed after receipt of full payment.
Accommodation
Student accommodation will be on a first come, first served basis with Shared accommodation. Students who pay their Accommodation fees in “Full” will receive accommodation preference. Students, who pay on a monthly basis, will be required to pay $1100 on arrival, for first and last months rent and $550 per month thereafter. Rent payments include, Utilities. Students must sign a one year Accommodation agreement for their first year of study. Please review the terms and conditions of your accommodation contract.
Medical Coverage (Mandatory)
All students who wish to study in Canada must have adequate medical insurance. Niagara on the Lake Culinary School provides Medical Insurance through the International Students Insurance Plan with a recognized Insurance Agency. Students are covered for 365 days of each academic year. If a Student has an injury or illness, there is a procedure in order to file a claim.
Any Doctors or Clinic
Hospital Location: 176 Wellington Street, - Wellington & Byron St, Niagara on the Lake, L0S 1J. This is a walk-in facility and not a full service hospital. Any major injuries please dial 911 and contact School Administrator – 905-468-1617
Dental: 369 Mary Street, Niagara on the Lake Dental – Mary St & Mississauga Rd Dr. Kevin Clarke. 905-468-3009
When students go to any Doctor, they pay the Doctors first and obtain a receipt from the attending Physician and or Dentist
Submit the original receipt with the claim form to NOTLCS and we will forward your claim to the Insurance agency. (See information package received)
Payment should occur within 7 days of submission. This is the same for prescription drugs only. (Over the counter drugs are not covered)
Hospitalization
If a Student has to stay in a hospital, they should contact the 24/7 toll free line of the Insurer. Payment will be made by the Insurer to the Hospital.
